Your handy guide for sending to Ireland

Updated yesterday

You can send One-Way and Two-Way SMS in Ireland.

However, you can't send MMS messages.

Available Sender IDs

You can choose from a few Sender ID options when sending to Ireland.

Registration and fees may apply.

Not sure which one to choose?

See our Sender ID guide or contact support — we're happy to help.

Shared numbers

Shared numbers are free, ready to use, and don’t need registration. Messages will be sent from our pool of local Sender IDs, so the number might be different each time.

Shared numbers are recommended for one-way messaging only.

Dedicated numbers

Send from a trusted, local number. Your messages will always come from a consistent Sender ID, which is perfect for establishing trust and recognition.

To purchase a dedicated number, please contact support.

Dedicated number registration usually takes 2-3 weeks.

Registration requirements

When purchasing a dedicated number, you will need to provide:

  • Business name, address, and website

  • Contact email address and phone number

  • Information on how you plan to use the number

Alpha tags

Alpha tags allow you to use your brand name as your Sender ID instead of a number.

To send using an alpha tag, your alpha tag must be registered with ClickSend, and with the local regulator: ComReg. Recipients cannot reply to messages sent using an alpha tag.

From 3 July 2025, alpha tags must be registered with ComReg.

Messages sent from an unregistered alpha tag will be sent as "Likely Scam".

From 3 October 2025, messages sent from an unregistered alpha tag will not be delivered.

How to register:

  1. Click here to register your alpha tag with ComReg. *Ensure to authorise Sinch as your OPA in the registry

  2. Register your alpha tag via our Dashboard by going to:

    Sender IDs ➔ Manage Senders

  3. After registration, contact support providing the SIDR unique identifier issued by ComReg

Own numbers

Send messages using your own number. Replies will go straight to your phone.

Register your own number via our Dashboard by going to:

Sender IDs ➔ Manage Senders
