Your handy guide for sending to Thailand

Updated over 3 weeks ago

You can send One-Way SMS messages in Thailand using a registered alpha tag. Two-Way messaging is supported when using a dedicated long number.

MMS isn't supported in this country.

Available Sender IDs

You can choose from a few Sender ID options when sending to Thailand.

Registration and fees may apply.

Not sure which one to choose?

See our Sender ID guide or contact support β€” we're happy to help.

Alpha tags

Alpha tags allow you to use your brand name as your Sender ID instead of a number. Recipients cannot reply to messages sent using an alpha tag.

To register an alpha tag, please contact support.

Alpha tag registration usually takes 4 weeks.

Registration requirements

Alpha tags have a 6-month shelf life β€” if no messages are sent within that period, the tag will be automatically removed by the network. When registering an alpha tag, you will need to provide:

  • Alpha tag (no spaces, 11 characters max, must match brand name)

  • Company name

  • Company URL

  • Company address (with postal code)

  • Service description (e.g. OTP, notifications)

  • Sample message

  • Monthly message volume

Dedicated numbers

Send from a trusted, local number. Your messages will always come from a consistent Sender ID, which is perfect for establishing trust and recognition.

However- we recommend sending messages using an alpha-tag to ensure delivery and ask the end-user to respond to the long number.

To purchase a dedicated number, please contact support.

Dedicated number registration usually takes 3-4 weeks.

Registration requirements

When purchasing a dedicated number, you will need to provide:

  • Company name

  • Company URL

  • Company address (with postal code)

  • Service description (e.g. OTP, notifications)

  • Sample message

  • Monthly message volume

Rules and best practices

URL Whitelisting Requirements

Thailand has strict URL regulations. If your SMS contains a link, the following rules apply:

  • The URL must be registered and approved by the operator

  • The domain must be owned or affiliated with your brand

  • Public URL shorteners (e.g. bit.ly, tinyurl) are strictly prohibited

  • Dynamic or static branded short links may be allowed if the landing page is provided for review

  • Redirects are not allowed β€” recipients must land directly on a static, brand-owned page

  • Verification templates must be submitted for all messages containing URLs

  • The Sender ID and URL must match the brand and message content

  • If using redirects, you must disclose the number of hops and have each step reviewed for compliance.

Sending unregistered URLs may lead to service suspension or criminal penalties under Thai cybercrime laws.

  • Do not send to users on DND unless your sender ID is whitelisted

  • Ensure recipients have opted in before sending

  • Always include a clear opt-out instruction, such as Reply STOP to opt out

  • DND inclusion/removal is managed by the user directly through their carrier (usually processed in 3–7 days)

  • All messages must comply with NBTC and NCSA regulations

  • Alpha tags and message content must be consistent with your registered brand and service

Content guidelines

Before you start sending, carefully review our sending guidelines to understand the types of messages you can't send. Additionally, you must adhere to the specific local regulations outlined below:

  • No political content

  • No gambling or betting

  • No religious content

  • No money lending
