Steps to Connect ClickSend to Power BI

1. Add the Custom Connector

  • Go to: Documents > Power BI Desktop

  • If not present, create a folder named: Custom Connectors

  • Move the file ClickSendPowerBIConnect.mez into this folder

2. Enable Data Extensions

  • In Power BI Desktop:

  • Navigate to: File > Options and settings > Options

  • Go to: Security > Data Extensions

  • Select: (Not Recommended) Allow any extension to load without validation or warning

  • Click OK and restart Power BI Desktop

3. Connect to ClickSend

  • Click: Get Data > More...

  • Search: ClickSend

  • Select: ClickSendPowerBIConnect (Beta)

4. Enter Your Credentials

  • In the authentication window:

    • Username = your ClickSend account username

    • Password = your ClickSend API key

  • Then click Connect

5. Load or Transform Data

In the Navigator window:

  • Select the data tables you need

  • Click Load to import directly, or

  • Click Transform Data to clean or modify the data before loading

You can now build reports and dashboards using your ClickSend data.

Troubleshooting

  • Ensure the .mez file is placed in the Custom Connectors folder

  • Double-check that Data Extensions are enabled

  • Use correct username and API key (not your password)

  • Restart Power BI Desktop after any configuration change
