Setup: Connect ClickSend to Zapier
Sign up for a ClickSend account (if you don’t have one yet).
When creating a Zap and choosing ClickSend as a trigger or action app, Zapier will prompt you to connect your ClickSend account.
Enter your ClickSend API username and API key found in your ClickSend dashboard.
Click Yes, Continue to connect.
Note: When selecting your sender ID, be mindful of regional regulations. Some regions allow entering your phone number directly in the "FROM" field, while others require pre-verification in the ClickSend dashboard. Unverified sender IDs may cause delivery issues.
Creating a Zap
A Zap is a workflow with two main parts:
Trigger – the event that starts the workflow. ClickSend offers triggers such as Inbound SMS (starts a workflow when you receive a message) and Link Hit (starts a workflow when a recipient clicks a tracked link in your message).
Action – what happens after the trigger.
What Can You Automate?
A Zap consists of a Trigger (the event) and an Action (the result).
ClickSend Triggers
Use ClickSend to start a workflow in other apps:
Inbound SMS: Triggers when someone texts your ClickSend number.
Link Hit (New!): Triggers when a recipient clicks a tracked short link in your message.
ClickSend Actions
Use other apps (like Shopify, WooCommerce, or Google Forms) to trigger ClickSend actions:
Direct Messaging: Send SMS, Send MMS, or Send a Voice Message. (Best for individual alerts).
Campaigns: Send SMS Campaign or Send MMS Campaign. (Best for bulk lists; avoid using for single messages).
Contact Management: Create, Update, or Delete Contacts and Lists.
Search: Search Contacts by Phone or Email Address.
How to Build Your Zap
Instead of repeating steps for every message type, here is the universal setup process:
Set your Trigger: Choose the app and event that starts your Zap (e.g., WooCommerce: New Customer or ClickSend: Link Hit).
Set your Action: Choose ClickSend SMS, then select your exact action (e.g., Send SMS, Send MMS Campaign, or Create Contact).
Map your Data: Fill in the required fields (like mapping the customer's phone number to the 'To' field, or writing your message body).
Test & Publish: Run a test to ensure the data maps correctly, then turn your Zap on.
Note for MMS: Always double-check supported media formats and size limits before adding your media URL.
Troubleshooting
If a Zap fails, go to your Zapier Zap History > Zaps Run. Locate the failed run, check the Data Outunder the ClickSend action, and verify that:
Your API key is correct.
You have sufficient ClickSend credits.
Your phone number formatting is correct.

How many contacts can I message at once?
For SMS and MMS campaigns, limits depend on your current account balance and the type of message.
Can I set up the workflow after my campaign has already been sent?
Can I set up the workflow after my campaign has already been sent?
We recommend setting up the workflow before your campaign is sent.
Since the workflow requires the SMS Campaign ID, you'll first need to create or schedule your SMS campaign to generate the campaign ID. Once you have the campaign ID, configure and enable the workflow before the campaign is sent.
This helps ensure that all link click events are captured. If a recipient clicks the tracked URL before the workflow is active, that click event won't be captured and the automation won't be triggered.
Recommended order:
Create or schedule your SMS campaign (to generate the Campaign ID).
Create and enable the workflow using the Campaign ID.
Send the campaign (or wait for the scheduled send time).
This sequence ensures the workflow is ready to capture all qualifying link click events from the moment recipients receive the SMS.
