Your guide to sending during trial (US)

This guide explains the limitations of sending with a ClickSend provided trial number during the US trial period.

Updated this week

In the United States, messages can only be sent from registered numbers. Normally, this requires applying for approval with US carriers.

To help you get started quickly, ClickSend provides a pre-registered trial number during your 14-day trial. This allows you to test our sending capabilities immediately - no registration required upfront!

Trial Restrictions

To protect US consumers from spam and smishing, trial sending comes with the following limitations:

1. Sending is limited to your own number

You can only send test messages to your own mobile number. Before sending, you must verify your number to confirm:

  • The number belongs to you

  • You have access to the device

This ensures trial messages are used strictly for testing purposes.

2. Watermarked messages

All test messages sent during the trial will include a ClickSend watermark. This is a carrier requirement and helps clearly identify the message as a trial/test message sent from a shared trial number.

How long can I use the trial number?

You can use the trial number for 14 days. After your trial ends, you’ll need to apply for and register your own dedicated sending number to continue messaging in the US.

Please note: US regulation does not allow business messaging traffic from own numbers, even after verification. To continue sending after trial please apply for a US dedicated number.

Available US dedicated numbers include:

  • 10DLC (local long code)

  • Toll-Free Number (TFN)

  • Short Code

You can apply via the Buy a Number dashboard or contact our friendly support team 24/7 via live chat for assistance.
