Understanding fax statuses

These are the possible statuses you may see when sending a fax:

Status Text

Description

Failure to handshake with answering party

ClickSend dialled the destination number and the call was picked up, but our system did not receive a fax handshake in a timely period.

Fax successfully sent

ClickSend sent the fax data and received the standard ‘all data received OK’ signal from the receiving fax machine.

No answer

ClickSend dialled the destination number but the call rang out without being picked up.

Check number and try again

ClickSend dialled the destination number but did not detect a busy signal or a timely pickup.

Busy

ClickSend dialled the destination number and received a busy tone.

Error during transmission

The fax call connected, and ClickSend started sending the data. However, the call ended before the receiving fax confirmed it received all the pages. Some or all pages may have been sent successfully.
