How to merge contact lists
Combine two lists into one with merging. There are two ways you can merge:
Transfer contacts
Use this method if you want contacts to be added to an existing list.
Open the list you want to merge from.
Select the contacts you want to move.
Click Transfer and select the destination list.
Contacts will be moved to the selected list and the original list will no longer include them.
Copy contacts
Use this method if you want to keep contacts in both lists.
Follow the same steps as above but click Copy instead of Transfer.
Contacts will be added to the destination list while remaining in the original list.
Remove duplicates from contact lists
You don’t want to message the same customer twice. You can keep your contact lists clean by removing any duplicates. Here’s how:
Navigate to Contacts.
Open the list you want to clean.
Click Clean Up and choose Remove Duplicates.
Select the field to check for duplicates (e.g., phone number, email).
Confirm.
Update or remove invalid contacts
Keeping your contact lists updated is a simple way to manage your messaging spend. Here’s how you can update your lists:
Analyse reports to find invalid or unengaged contacts.
Open your contact list and use filters to locate these entries.
Edit incorrect details or remove the contact.
Share contact lists across subaccounts
Use this method if you want the subaccount to have access to all contact lists. You must have Access Settings permissions to share contact lists across sub accounts.
Navigate to Account Settings.
Select the subaccount.
Under permissions, tick the Share Contacts box.
Save.
If you keep the Share Contacts box unchecked, the user can only see their own contact lists.
Remove failed contacts
There are many reasons why as SMS doesn't reach it's destination. Unfortunately, these are often out of our control — the contacts phone may be off, out of signal or no longer connected.
You can remove failed contacts by following the below steps:
Go to your SMS History.
Filter by Status to show only Failed messages.
Export the filtered results to Excel.
In Excel, delete all rows that aren’t failed messages. Keep only the contact number column.
Save the file to your desktop.
Upload the file to your Opt-Out List.
Go to the contact list you plan to send to and click Remove Opted-Out Contacts.
This will remove failed numbers from your list, helping you avoid sending to contacts that are out of service, switched off, or otherwise unreachable.
