Australian Alpha Tag Registration: International Customers - Completing Identity Verification

Completing the Identity Verification process as an International customer

After you submit your alphanumeric sender ID registration, the authorized representative for your business will receive an email with a secure verification link. This guide walks you through what to expect when you click that link and complete the verification process.

The verification is handled by our secure identity verification partner and consists of two parts:

  1. Business verification - confirming your business details and your association with the business

  2. Identity verification - confirming your identity using a government-issued photo ID

The entire process takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes. The verification link is valid for 21 days.

What you will need

Before clicking the verification link, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Your business registration number (e.g. Companies House number, NZBN, EIN, or equivalent in your country)

  • Your business website URL

  • Your business address

  • Your corporate email address (the same email used during sender ID registration)

  • A valid government-issued photo ID (passport, national ID card, or driver's license)

  • A device with a camera (for the ID photo and selfie)

Part A: Business Verification

When you click the verification link in the email, you'll be taken to a secure verification page.

The verification flow will guide you through the process starting with an acknowledgement that you are authorized to complete this registration on behalf the business:

Then verifying the email address:

You'll see a Business details screen asking you to confirm your organization's information.

Fill in the following:

  • Country - select the country where your business is registered

Tip: If you don't see the email, check your spam or junk folder. The email will come from our verification partner.

Step A5: Business verification complete

Once your email is verified, you'll see a confirmation screen: "Congratulations, you're done! Thanks for completing the Business Verification."

Your business details will now be checked against the official business register in your country. This happens automatically in the background.

Part B: Identity Verification

After completing the business verification, you'll receive an email to verify your identity using a government-issued photo ID. This confirms that you are who you say you are.

Step B1: Consent and begin

You'll see a Verify your identity screen explaining that a government-issued photo ID is required. The screen includes information about how your biometric data will be processed and stored.

Read the consent information, then click Begin verifying.

Step B2: Select your country and document type

  • Select the country that issued your ID document

  • Choose your document type: Driver's License, Passport, or National ID Card

Step B3: Capture the front and Back of your ID

You'll be asked to take a clear photo of the front and back of your ID document.

  • If you're on a mobile device, your camera will open automatically

  • If you're on a desktop, you can upload a photo or use your webcam

  • Make sure the entire document is visible, well-lit, and in focus

Step B4: Take a selfie (liveness check)

The final step is a selfie/liveness check to confirm you are the same person shown on the ID document.

  • Your front-facing camera will activate

  • Centre yourself on the screen

  • Follow the on-screen prompts (e.g. "Look slightly right")

  • The photo will be captured automatically once your position is correct ("Auto capture on")

Step B5: Verification complete

Once your selfie is captured and matched against your ID, you'll see a confirmation screen: "Congratulations, you're done! Thanks for verifying your identity."

What happens after verification

Once you've completed both parts of the verification:

  1. Your details are checked automatically. Our verification partner processes your business registry check and identity match. This typically completes within minutes.

  2. Our team reviews your sender ID. We confirm that your requested sender ID matches your registered business name, trademark, or domain.

  3. We submit your registration to ACMA. Once everything checks out, we register your sender ID with the Australian Communications and Media Authority on your behalf.

  4. You'll be notified. We'll email you when your sender ID registration is approved.

The review and ACMA submission process typically takes 1 to 3 business days after you complete verification.

Frequently asked questions

My verification link has expired. What do I do?

If the 14-day window has passed, contact our support team and we'll send you a new link.

What happens if I use a personal email (e.g. Gmail) instead of my corporate email?

You may be asked to provide additional documentation, such as a Letter of Authorization on company letterhead, to confirm your association with the business. We recommend using your corporate email to avoid this extra step.

I didn't receive the email verification code.

Check your spam or junk folder. The code is sent from our verification partner's email address. If you still can't find it, try requesting a new code on the verification screen.
