Alpha senders require Pre-Reg. Non-registered senders and Numeric are replaced with a shortcode or longcode.

Using GSM7 encoding accented vowels are replaced by "?" due to GSM7 encoding does not support it. € symbol is overwritten by" E" in ICE, Telefonica replaced by "e" as well.

2-way SMS

Supported via a dedicated shortcode.

Regulations and Best Practices

Disallowed content policy: Forbidden content: political, religious, adult, threatening, and SPAM.

Opt-In / Opt-out: Costa Rican operators have not established specific Opt in/Opt out methods for campaigns. We recommend that companies include an unsubscribe method within the text messages to allow customers to proceed. It can be an email, phone number, or URL to process the opt-out.
