How to send SMS within Pipedrive

With ClickSend and Pipedrive, you can send messages to your contacts and deals globally.

Introduction: In this article, we'll guide you through the steps on how to send both Individual and Bulk SMS through Contacts and Deals in Pipedrive.

Prerequisites:

  1. You need a ClickSend account to connect to your Pipedrive account.
    1. You can create an account here.
  2. If you don’t have an account in Pipedrive, you can create one here.

Installation steps:

  1. Login to your Pipedrive account > Marketplace apps > Explore Marketplace
  2. Search for ‘ClickSend SMS’ and click the ‘Install now’ button.

Authentication

Authenticate by adding your ClickSend credentials.

Username - the username you use to login in ClickSend.

API Key - is the API key found in the ClickSend dashboard: https://dashboard.clicksend.com/#/account/subaccount

Now, you’re all set! You may now start adding contacts to Contacts and Deals and send your messages instantly.

How to add ‘Contacts’ and send SMS in Pipedrive

To add contacts, hover your mouse over ‘Contacts’ on the left side of your screen.

Click + Person Then fill in your details on your preference. (Name and Number are required)

You can also add multiple contacts by adding them through ‘Organization’. Then, click + to add your preferred Organization and add the contact person's name under the link a person.

How to send SMS from Contacts/People 

To send an SMS, go to the Contacts page and select the name of the person you wish to send the message to, and click the Send SMS button.

Once you click ‘Send SMS’, you will be redirected to this page. Select a ‘Sender number’ (leave this blank if you want to send from our free shared number, enter the recipient number ( should be entered in international format when sending to other countries) , compose your message, and hit Send SMS.

How to add ‘Deals’ and send SMS in Pipedrive

To add a deal, hover your mouse over ‘Deals’ on the left side of your screen.

Click + Deal Then fill in your details on your preference. (Name and Number are required)

Once a new deal is created, expand the panel to select the deal you want to send an SMS to.

Now, click on the 3 dots on the upper right-hand corner of this page and select the ‘Send SMS’ button. You will then be directed to the Message UI.

Select a ‘Sender number’ (you can leave this blank if you want to send from a free shared number). Enter the recipient number (this should be entered in international format when sending to other countries), compose your message, and hit send.

How to send bulk SMS to contacts, and to deals in Pipedrive.

When sending bulk SMS in Contacts and Deals, you may select more than one recipient on these pages. On top of the UI, it displays the number of contacts selected.

Once all fields are selected and filled in, you may hit Send SMS instantly.

Viewing your sent and received messages in Pipedrive

All sent and received SMS are added as a ‘Note’ under a specific contact or deal in Pipedrive. 

They can also be viewed in ‘Activities’.

Troubleshooting

Not able to send SMS successfully? Kindly check the following:

  1. Make sure you entered the correct credentials. It should be using your ClickSend username and API key, not the password.

  1. Are placeholders supported?

-  Yes. Placeholders are configured within Pipedrive. The supported placeholders are First name, Last name, and Email.

  1. Are templates supported?
  • Yes, it can allow up to 100 templates. You can create templates through our ClickSend dashboard here
  1. What sender number is supported? 
  • All sender numbers are supported (Country-restriction applies)
  1. Where can I find my API credentials?
  1.  Why can’t I log in from my other account?
  • Pipedrive saves the first credentials used after installation. You need to reinstall the app to log in from a different account.
