Alpha senders require Pre-Reg. Non-registered sender IDs and numeric are replaced with a shortcode.
To register your alpha tag, please provide the following details:
- Alpha tag (no spaces, 11 characters max):
- Website
- Company Name
- Sample content
- Traffic type (transactional, marketing messages, or both)
- Service description (OTP, alerts/notifications, or reminders)
- Estimated monthly volume
- Must fill out a form that will be sent by our global sending specialist.
Registration ETA: 4-5 weeks.
Exceptions: TIGO does not support Unicode encoding. As well, TIGO doesn´t support GMS extended characters like | ^ { } [ ~ ] \. "€" is replaced with "e"
Regulations and Best Practices
Disallowed content policy: Forbidden content: violence, political, religious & adult. Betting content is allowed.
Opt-in - Opt-out Opt-In: Non-required except in gambling and betting services where the subscriber must explicitly accept to receive text messages.
Opt-out in 1way products: Mandatory include an UNSUBSCRIBE method, it can be a URL, phone number, or email in the text message as a way to opt-out.
Opt-out in 2way products: Required. The content provider is responsible for opting out the users from their databases. An unsubscribe method must be included in the outbound text messages (MT). For 1way communications must include an unsubscribe URL. For 2ways communications, brands can choose to include unsubscribe URLs or process inbound SMS (MO) with "Salir" or "STOP".
End User Support/HELP message: Programs should support HELP message as a best practice
Allowed sending time for marketing programs: It is recommended to contact end users during their daytime hours unless the content is transactional or banking (one-time password, account balance, etc.). Marketing text messages are only allowed Monday to Friday from 7 am to 9 pm local time. Weekends and bank holidays from 9 am to 8 pm local time.
