Prerequisite

There are 2 ways you can connect ClickSend and Mailchimp, by using Automate.io or Zapier. If you don't have either of the accounts:

Option 1: Using Automate.io

Use Case: Send an SMS via Clicksend to New Subscribers in Mailchimp

So what we want to achieve here is to notify us with an SMS to our personal mobile number every time we have a new Mailchimp list subscriber.

So, let's get started.

Instructions

Step 1: Login to Automate.io

  • Login to your Automate.io account and then click on ‘Create a Bot’ button.
  • In this example we name it - ‘Mailchimp - New Subscriber’.

Step 2: Linking the Trigger App

  • Select Mailchimp as your Trigger app, and click on Authorize button to submit app credentials for your Mailchimp account.
  • Enter your user name and your password and then hit Save to link your Mailchimp account.

Step 3: Setting up the triggers

  • Now move to select your trigger event - “New Subscriber” from the drop-down list.
  • Then Select the Mailchimp list for which you want this automation to work.
  • Your trigger app setup is now complete.

Step 4: Linking your Action App

  • Select ClickSend as your Action app, and click on Authorize button to submit app credentials for your Clicksend account.
  • Enter your Username and API Key and click on Save to link your Clicksend account.

Step 5: Setting up the Actions

  • Now move to select your action event - “Send an SMS to a contact” from the drop-down list.
  • In the input field write down the number where you want to receive the sms.
  • Write a custom message in the message body. You can use relevant fields from Mailchimp to personalize your message.
  • Then click on Save to finish setting up your Action App.

Step 6: Test and Go live

  • Turn on your bot.
  • Proceed to test your bot with sample or test data.
  • That’s all. Your bot will now run automatically when a new subscriber gets added to Mailchimp to send you an SMS via ClickSend.
