ActiveCampaign Integration

Prerequisite

There are two ways you can connect ClickSend with ActiveCampaign:

Option 1: Direct Integration

Option 2: Using Automate.io

Option 3. Using Zapier

Note: You will need to create a Zapier or an Automate.io account first.

Option 1

Introduction

In this article, we will try integrating both ClickSend and ActiveCampaign. So what we want to achieve here is for new contacts that are added to an opt in list in ActiveCampaign to be added to your contacts in ClickSend for easy communication using ClickSend's dashboard and API.

So, let's get started.

Instructions

Step 1:

Login to your Zapier account. And then click Make a Zap! button.

Step 2:

Let's search and select ActiveCampaign as our trigger app. Next, check New Contact Added to List as our trigger action. Then click Save + Continue button.

Step 3:

Let's link your ActiveCampaign account.

Select Choose Account.

Click Connect an Account button.

Enter your API URL and API Key.

Then click the Yes, Continue button.

Then click Save + Continue button.

Step 4:

Let finish up our trigger app setup.

Go back to your Zapier setup page.

Then click Fetch & Continue button.

Lastly the Continue button.

Step 5:

Ok, let's set up our Action app. Let's search and choose ClickSend.

Next select Create Contact as our action.

Then click Save + Continue button.

Step 6:

Next, let's add your ClickSend account. Click Connect an Account button.

There should be a popup saying to add or allow your Zapier and ClickSend account to be linked together.

Type in your ClickSend username and API key.

Click the Test button to check if it was successful.

Then click Save + Continue button.

Step 7:

Let's set up our Create Contact template.

In the Contact List input box, select the contact list that you want the new contacts to be added to (ActiveCampaign contacts etc...)

Set the contacts First Name, Last Name, Mobile, Email, Address, Etc... to their corresponding fields from ActiveCampaign.

Then click Continue button.

Step 8:

Let's finish up everything.

Click Create & Continue button.

Then the Finish button.

Lastly, name your Zap, and turn it ON

Option 2: Using Automate.io

Use Case: Send ActiveCampaign Contacts an SMS via ClickSend

What we want to achieve here is to send an SMS via ClickSend when a contact is added in ActiveCampaign. This will allow you to send instant notifications to your subscribers when they’ve registered for your webinar, their order is ready for dispatch or to send exclusive offers on signups, the possibilities are endless.

Here’s how you can do it:

Amendment:

You can also set up an Opt out list in the same way where contacts added to your ActiveCampaign opt out list will get added to your ClickSend opt out list to easily remove contacts from both systems.

Step 1: Login to Automate.io

Login to your Automate.io account. And then click on ‘Create a Bot’ button.

Step 2: Linking Trigger App

  • Next, name your bot and select your Trigger App i.e. ActiveCampaign.
  • Click on Authorize button and enter your API URL and Key.
  • Then click on Allow Access button and hit Save to link your ActiveCampaign Account.

Step 3: Set up  your Trigger App

  • Now move to selecting your trigger event i.e. ‘New Contact’ here.
  • Then select the list you want to add the subscribers in.
  • Your trigger app setup is now complete.

Step 4: Linking Action App

  • Search and select your Action app i.e. ClickSend
  • Click on Authorize and enter your ClickSend Username and API key.
  • Then click on Validate and hit Save to link your ClickSend account.

Step 5: Set up your Action App

  • Select the action to be done i.e ‘Send an SMS to a Contact’ here.
  • To set up your ‘To’ input field, just drag and drop ‘Contact phone’ Output field.
  • Next personalize your SMS message by using relevant fields from ACtiveCampaign and compose your message.
  • You can optionally set up the ‘From’ and ‘Schedule’ fields.
  • Then click on Save to finish setting up your Action App.

Step 6: Test and Go Live

  • Turn on your bot.
  • Proceed to test your bot with sample or test data.
  • That’s all. Your bot will now run automatically when a new subscriber gets added to ActiveCampaign and send them an SMS via ClickSend.
