Regulations and Best Practices

Sender Address

  • Sender address should be the name of the brand or app where the messaging content originates from
  • If a brand plans to send transactional & marketing traffic, then 2 separate alpha tags are required to be registered (this is per operator regulation)
  • 1 sender address for transactional (which bypasses DND filters)
  • 1 sender address for marketing (which has DND filtering applied)
  • Generic sender addresses (including numeric) are not allowed and will be blocked by the operators

Forbidden content types

  • Adult
  • Alcohol & tobacco
  • Gambling
  • Medicines/drugs
  • Political
  • Religious

Marketing

  • No official messaging curfew or time restriction, but operators prefer not to send promotional SMS between 21:00 - 09:00 local time (GMT + 03:00)
  • No opt-out content is required for marketing SMS
  • DND filtering is applied
